Steve Jobs, Greatest innovator??

Steve Jobs was the greatest innovator and entrepreneur of our times, who created game-changing innovations including the Apple II, Macintosh, NeXT, iMac, iBook, iPod, MacBook, OS X, iPhone and the iPad, and made Apple the most valuable company in the world. Steve Jobs was the co-founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Apple Inc.

BusinessWeek has named Apple CEO Steve Jobs one of its "Great Innovators" as part of a weekly series the business magazine is running on people who have innovated in technology, management, finance, marketing, or government. This weekis installment features Mr. Jobs as a tech innovator based on his success in founding Apple, resurrecting Apple, and running Pixar. (http://www.macobserver.com 20/12/2011)

Blogging...

I was thinking of new things to blog about and it popped into my head about how I could blog from other devices other than my laptop. So I am currently writing this blog from my phone!

Mobile phone companies have shown how innovation can be used successfully. Mobile phones have gone from only being able to call people to now being able to use the internet, email, check social networking sites, create documents and powerpoints and of course being able to call and text people. The mobile phone was originally created in 1973 by Dr Martin Cooper, he made the first phone call on a portable mobile phone to his rival Joel Engel, Bell Labs head of research.(www.cellular.co.za 20/12/2011). Now mobile phones are more of a fashion accessory than a device used just for contacting people.

I have a BlackBerry Bold, I am constantly checking my emails, checking Facebook and Twitter, texting or ringing people or taking photos of interesting things! If i compare my first phone, a Nokia 3310, which I was bought for my 11th birthday, I only used it about once a week to ring my parents when I had finished my netball match in school, but now I use my phone about every ten minutes for something!

Sainsburys bring out purple veg...

Following the successful launch of purple potatoes last year, Sainsbury’s is to launch a range of purple vegetables in time for Halloween.
Purple potato wedges, pointed purple cabbage and purple carrots are some of the Halloween-themed food on offer.

While offering all the benefits normally found in fresh vegetables, these deep purple varieties are free from artificial colours and additives.(http://www.fdin.org.uk/ 03/09/2011)

I think these potatoes are a fantastic idea! What kid doesn't want to eat something that looks freaky! I know I would have eaten them as a child! I have only ever seen purple fruit, and then red cabbage and aubergines, that were purple in colour, and not many kids want to eat cabbage! With Sainsbury's introducing these at Halloween it allows parents to give their kids something different on that day, but still tastes the same as a normal potato.

Innovation

Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world” - Albert Einstein

Imagination is the fist stepping stone towards innovation. People imagine a future and then start to work towards making that that dream come true.
Imagination forms the very foundation of creativity. Every innovation in the world today began as some nebulous idea or as an imagination of the future. People who are creative tend to have great ability to display their imagination.
